Here, and there
I’ve enjoyed my brief return here at Substack. But my friends at Canada’s National Observer convinced me that I could fulfill the same purpose through a revived version of my newsletter, and I was (and am) inclined to agree.
You can find my first weekly newsletter of 2026 here. I’ll post the other ones after they’re published, but you’re welcome (and encouraged!) to subscribe to the newsletter as well if you want them right away.
It’ll cover most of the same things I was writing about here: climate policy, energy politics, and knocking down bad arguments around both. It’ll use charts, data, and other kinds of visual receipts. And I promise: it’ll be fun.

Listened to your Rupture interview on Canadaland. Couldn’t agree more with everything you said. Maybe all the news journalists can stop badgering Mark Carney to reveal his negotiating tactics now that he has pulled back the gilded curtain and said clearly what they have all been afraid to acknowledge in public. And maybe ten-ish republicans in Congress will see the light and upend the balance of power before the midterms. I just hope his acolytes at least have the sense to sequester the real button far away from his pudgy little fingers. He is the kind of psychopath who would push it in his dying moments.
I didn't even realize you came back here! Very short return. Please stay. Also, I clicked on the link above and it’s a bad link.
